Israeli war crimes

Dear all,
We would like to inform you of an International Petition to the UN General Assembly asking that they set up a special international penal court to try Israeli war crimes, notably in the Gaza Strip. The petition was set up on the web site of a Paris-based French activist group – Association France Palestine Solidairité (AFPS) – where your signatures can be added.

To sign the petition, please go to:
http://www.france-palestine.org/article11208.html (for the English version).

In order for the UN General Assembly to open such war crimes investigations, the petition will need to collect a minimum of 500,000 signatures. The number is now over 30,000 and growing steadily each day with new signatories from around the world.

To set a goal, and speed things up, USC4P&J is urging you to sign by no later than May 1st!

In order to reach this goal, it is essential that we all spread the word. Please forward this information (even if just the title and link to the petition) to your friends, other directories and mailing lists, urging them to do the same!

For those of you interested in finding ways to challenge U.S. policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, see The US Campaign to End the Occupation:
http://www.endtheoccupation.org/index.php
The Campaign aims “to inform, educate, and mobilize the public so as to change the US role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to support peace, justice, human rights, and international law.”

Finally, for any Facebook aficionados out there, you can also go to “Causes on Facebook”
(
http://apps.facebook.com/causes/187076?m=de0957a2) to petition the International Criminal Court (ICC) to Investigate Israeli War Crimes in Gaza. Aimed directly to the Prosecutor General of the ICC, visitors are provided with a letter they can use, and information on how to email, fax, write or call the ICC Prosecutor General and urge him to investigate the many reports coming out of Gaza of the deliberate targeting of the civilian population.

Whether you choose to sign one or both petitions, make sure you mark this approaching May Day by “working” towards a goal.
