Don't curse the darkness, light a candle.

 
  Haider Abdel Shafi's death left me stunned, no words, only immense pain.

Haider was not only a very real person, a  man of integrity and a  fantastic human being ,  he embodied also the symbol of what millions of people around the world thought Palestine would have become: free from Israeli military occupation, an independent, secular and democratic state where citizenship and social justice would prevail.

Haider could not see that and every day that dream seems more and more far away.

I really hope all the Palestinians will gather around Haider to pay tribute to him and rethink of their divisions and internal struggle and find a way to unite and form a strong popular non violent movement to pave the way to freedom and independence.

To all his family, to all comrades all my love and my sorrow not to be able to accompany Haider to his last trip in his beloved Gaza under siege.

To me he will be unforgettable. Rest in peace Haider.
